Julie Phillips, MD, is the inaugural medical director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at WVU Medicine Children’s. Dr. Phillips also serves as the division director for Pediatric Emergency Medicine within the WVU Department of Emergency Medicine.
Phillips is a native West Virginian born in Kopperston (Wyoming County), and she grew up in Cool Ridge (Raleigh County). She earned her Doctorate in Medicine from West Virginia University in 2007, and she comes from a line of Mountaineers, with both her parents and her older sister graduating from WVU. Phillips completed a pediatric residency at the University of Connecticut and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Vanderbilt University.
Previously, Phillips served as an attending physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, and attending physician and associate medical director of the Children’s Hospital Emergency Room at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
