Pavithra Ellison, MD, MMM, FASA

Associate Chief Quality Officer, Vice Chair of Anesthesiology

Pavithra Ellison, MD, MMM, FASA is the associate chief quality officer at WVU Medicine Children’s. She is also a pediatric anesthesiologist and vice chair of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Ellison is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology and has a strong clinical focus. Her dedication to quality outcomes in complex pediatric surgeries sets national benchmarks for WVU Medicine Children’s.

Ellison’s contributions include positioning WVU Medicine Children’s as a founding member of the TriNet X pediatric collaborative group for research, elevating the institution’s profile in Pediatric and Neonatal Outcomes research and Pediatric Craniofacial outcomes research.

She has developed comprehensive dashboards for pediatric anesthesia quality and plays a pivotal role in enhancing perioperative services.

She also chairs the Promotion and Tenure Committee for Health Sciences and the national Committee on Rural Access to Anesthesia Care and is an advisory member for the VA’s Rural Health Committee. Ellison is also the recipient of several grants for research in Pediatric Anesthesia and Anesthesiology.  

Ellison received her medical degree from Annamalai University, India, and completed fellowships at Johns Hopkins and Cleveland Clinic and her residency at NYU Langone Medical Center. She earned her master’s in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
