Maternal Infant Care Center (MICC)

Our team includes maternal-fetal medicine specialists, midwives, a genetics counselor, and a registered diagnostic medical ultrasonographer. Our perinatal genetic services include targeted ultrasound and genetic amniocentesis supported by our on-site cytogenetics laboratory.

The WVU Medicine Children’s Maternal Infant Care Center (MICC) provides high-quality, family-centered maternity care to meet the individual needs of all pregnant women — from routine obstetrical care to treatment of mothers and babies at high risk for complications. Seventy percent of MICC deliveries are classified as high risk.

The MICC offers birthing rooms that simulate a normal home environment, with technology equipped to handle any birthing situation. To provide new parents with more peace of mind, babies stay in their mother’s room after delivery. Follow-up care we offer includes an after-birth clinic, baby care videos, a lactation consultation, and a breastfeeding clinic.
